Miriam Behman is an interdisciplinary artist who works primarily with photography and weaving, often exploring concepts of memory, grief and longing. Lately, she has been experimenting with hand weaving as an intervention in photographic images. The handmade disturbances she inserts into her photographs point to her observations of change in the landscapes she inhabits and visits.
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Miriam is now based on Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Territory in Dawson City, Yukon. She has taken part in residencies both at home and internationally, including the Arctic Circle Residency in Svalbard, Norway and the Arctic Circle Retreat in Eagle Plains, Yukon. Miriam holds a BFA from NSCAD University (2020) and is a YSOVA alumni (2017).
